Laparoscopic Hiatal Hernia Repair (Nissen Fundoplication)

A hiatal hernia occurs when a part of the stomach moves upwards from the stomach to the chest. If the hernia is causing severe symptoms or possible complications are anticipated, hiatal hernia surgery is required. Nissen fundoplication is the most preferred laparoscopic repair procedure which is minimally invasive in the treatment of hiatal hernia. During the procedure, in addition to hernia repair, the stomach opening may be tightened to prevent the hernia from coming back.
